A Florida native, Carey moved to Washington, D.C. in 2017. He surrendered his life to Christ as a junior at Liberty University, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing. God gave Carey a deep-seated passion to work in ministry, leading him to receive a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling at Luther Rice Seminary and later to work a year-long pastoral residency at McLean Bible Church. That season of life gave him more in-depth insight into worship leading, scriptural study, and event planning at a mega-church. As the residency came to an end, God provided Carey the opportunity to apply his experience to the opposite end of the spectrum with church planting. Carey now leads the worship ministry and oversees the administration of Pillar DC!
Church Planting Intern
Andrew currently lives in Alexandria, VA with his wife, Laura. Andrew met his wife, Laura, while attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, in which the Lord saved Andrew from a background of cultural, nominal Christianity at the age of 20. At the time, he was pursuing a degree in Nursing, but once the Lord saved him during his Junior year, Andrew quickly felt a burden to preach and teach the Gospel so that no one would end up in cultural Christianity like he was. Through this calling, the Lord opened a door for Andrew to serve as an intern on staff at Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After two years on staff in Brainerd’s college ministry, Andrew and Laura packed up their newly married lives and moved to Washington DC, where he is currently serving as a church planting intern at Pillar Church of Washington DC. After being trained to plant a church and finishing seminary, Andrew is planning on being sent out from Pillar DC to plant a church where the Lord calls his family. Andrew loves to golf, fly fish, read and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
