Doug Hanna

Doug Hanna

Doug has served at Pillar Church since 2019. Since becoming a Christian in 2011, Doug has served in a variety of ministry roles. He holds a Masters of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Doug is married to Lydia and they have two children.

Doug is also a small business owner and works in digital marketing. He is the creator of SpurgeonBooks, an online community centered on the ministry of the 19th century preacher Charles Spurgeon, and God Centered Family, a resource to help parents teach their kids the Bible.

Doug is passionate about ministry in DC and desires to see people orient their lives around knowing Jesus and making him known in DC and around the world.

Thomas Hudson

Thomas Hudson

Thomas lives in Washington DC with his wife, Amanda, and their four children J.T., Elizabeth, Victoria, and Truett. Thomas became a Christian when he was seventeen years old and immediately immersed himself in the church. Before coming to Pillar, Thomas and Amanda served Calvary Chapel in New Orleans and Thomas worked for a geotechnical engineering firm. Thomas received a BS in civil engineering from Georgia Southern University in 2006 and a Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2009. He was ordained into ministry in August of 2014. In addition to his work at Pillar Church, Thomas enjoys playing golf, duck hunting, and biking around the District.

Lay Elder

Chad Thompson

Chad Thompson is a volunteer elder at Pillar Church. He lives on Bolling Air Force Base in SE DC with his wife, Amanda, and his son and daughter, Aiden and Keira. Chad is an active duty Commander in the Coast Guard and currently serves in the Coast Guard headquarters Office of Aviation Forces. Chad and Amanda met in Georgia during their senior year in high school and then had to survive a four year long distance relationship while Chad attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut. They were married three days after graduation in 2003.  Chad has been serving the Lord in various capacities for as long as he can remember, beginning with the children's choir at the United Methodist Church in Twin City, GA. While Chad and Amanda aren't serving the Coast Guard or at Pillar Church, they spend their time home schooling Aiden and Keira or learning traditional cooking skills in preparation for an eventual return to the family farm in Georgia.
