On the week leading up to Easter, record yourself sharing your testimony and upload it to Facebook and/or Instagram with the hashtag #JesusChangedMyLife, tag Pillar DC, and invite people to join us for Easter online!

Easter 2020, #Jesuschangedmylife

While we are saddened that we cannot gather together and invite our lost friends and family members to come and hear the Gospel this Easter, we also believe God wants to work through the Covid-19 pandemic.

In God’s providence, we believe that this obstacle is actually an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to share the Gospel with people who may otherwise never have heard or who never would have come to church!

That’s why we’re encouraging YOU to share with your friends how Jesus has transformed your life with the #JesusChangedMyLife hashtag on Facebook and Instagram.

Think about it. Hundreds of your friends are quarantined at home with lots of time and lots of big questions about life and death and God right now. We want to help you prepare your testimony, and then on the week leading up to Easter, you can record yourself sharing your testimony and upload it to Facebook and/or Instagram with the hashtag #JesusChangedMyLife

That way, hundreds of your friends and family members will have an opportunity to hear the Gospel! And by posting your testimony on the week leading up to Easter, you can include a link inviting them to watch the Livestream of Pillar DC’s Easter Service on April 12th.

We’re so excited about this and we believe it has the potential to reach hundreds of people with the Gospel who otherwise never would have been reached. And the best part is that God will use YOU to do it!

How It Works

1 - Record your “15-30 second story”

Record a video of yourself sharing a brief version of how Jesus has changed your life. Guidance on how to share your story in 15-30 seconds can be found below.

2 - Upload your story

Upload your story to Facebook and/or Instagram between April 6 - April 11.

3 - Include the #JesusChangedMyLife hashtag & Pillar DC handle

When you upload your video, put the #JesusChangedMyLife hashtag in the description and then include Pillar’s handle (@pillarchurchdc for Facebook or @pillar_DC for Instagram) with an invitation to join us for our online Easter service at 10AM on Sunday April 12!   Look below for a sample of what the post could look like…

15-30 second testimony

To craft a 15 second testimony, the basic structure looks like this…

  1. Here’s what my life was like before Jesus saved me
  2. Here’s how Jesus saved me
  3. Here’s what my life is becoming like since Jesus saved me

Selfie Story Guide

Here are some best practices for shooting yourself on your phone.

  • Simple, clean backdrops are ideal – Avoid distracting backgrounds or crowed spaces.
  • In natural light – Avoid backlighting. The main source of light should be facing you, not behind you.
  • In artificial light – Avoid standing directly below an overhead light or anything else that creates hard shadows. Consider using a stand lamp several feet away for good indirect light.
  • Shoot eye level – Shooting from above or below will make you seem diminished or imposing. Eye level communicates accessibility.
  • Clean your camera – Make sure the lens of your selfie camera is clean before shooting.
  • Shoot portrait – Align your phone vertically.
