Bread of Life Food Pantry

Bread of Life

Bread of Life is more than a food pantry. We desire to partner with individuals and families by providing short-term food assistance combined with long-term spiritual and emotional support to help them become healthy and whole.

We want to give those in need the tools and assistance they need to better their lives in the present while also finding true, everlasting life in Jesus.

How does it work?

Bread of Life is a 6 month program that individuals or families can apply to be enrolled in. The reason the program is 6 months is because our goal is to help people better their lives for the long haul, not to create dependency.

Food insecurity is a major obstacle to success in school and at work, so the program is designed to alleviate these stressors to help families get on their feet. Families that are enrolled in the program receive groceries once per week that can be picked up on Saturday mornings between 10am-12pm at Carron Baptist Church.

We also offer financial counselling, spiritual counselling, and emotional support to our families that extends beyond the 6 months of food assistance.

Who is it for?

Individuals OR families who…

  • Are actively dealing with food insecurity

  • Reside in the 20024 Zip Code in Southwest DC (must provide proof of residence)

  • Have completed the application form and provided requested documents (Link to Application below)

  • Have been accepted into the program by Bread of Life staff

Groceries are packed and distributed on Saturday mornings between 10am-12pm. If you would like to volunteer, contact [email protected]

We love the families we help at Bread of Life, and while we are grateful to offer them physical sustenance, only God can transform their hearts & lives. Please pray the families who are enrolled, the volunteers, and the staff at Bread of Life!

You can donate food items by dropping them off at 1354 First St SW on Wednesdays between 10am-2pm or Sundays between 9am-12pm. Below is a list of acceptable types of donations.

We also rely on generous financial gifts to help us purchase groceries that we are running low on. You can give online at Select “Give Online” and then select “Bread of Life” in the drop down.
